PC Gaming, what do you play?

Anyone here do a lot of PC gaming?

Personally, I've only played 2 PC games, and one of them was offline.
Grim Fandango
and Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst

What games do other folks play on the PC?

For me the PC is my main source of games. My PC accidentally has 1Tb of storage now (long story) so I've got a lot of my old games reinstalled too. Probably around 100 on it now.
My favourite genre is probably RTS followed by FPS and RPG stuff. I play alot of the C&C games though i dont like the new ones as much. Company of heroes or Dawn of war are probably my current favourites for RTS.
For FPS it'll be the Half Life games or things like ArmA, Call of Duty or Mechwarrior 4. Deus Ex, Bioshock and STALKER are good for a blend of RPG and FPS.
I dont play too many online, though I used to play Guild Wars and Counter Stike. Now its either CoD or Left4Dead.

At the moment, I have two PC games, though I have no idea where one of them (the first CSI, whatever its subtitle may be) is. I'm heavily into the puzzle-laden point-and-click style adventures, so I'd like to look further into the genre and use it to expand my collection, possibly starting with Still Life 2 (since I utterly enjoyed playing the first one when I picked it up for the X-Box).

The game that didn't head off for parts unknown is The Black Mirror, which I still haven't completed and, after about a year, I still have yet to install onto my current computer...

I use my PC for most of my gaming also, but if I had to narrow down games I play constantly, it would be Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, LaTale (current mmo), Company of Heroes (have to re-download it due to idiotic update -_-), and GGPO (for Garou).

O_O You can play video games on your computer??? *trashes 360*

But on a more serious note, correct me if I'm wrong, but dont you need a fast computer, with a 1 gb or more of RAM, a decent video card, and good online connection? (for online games)

i tried playing left 4 dead on my craptop (I'm so witty ) and not only was there tremendous lag, the survivors looked like sprites! (Sprites i tellz you!!!) If i had the necessary funds, I would upgrade my laptop and trash my 360.

I mostly play casual games nowadays - Peggle, Bejeweled, etc. - and use my computer to construct tabletop D&D adventures, but I have had loads of fun in the past with Portal, Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights and Diablo II, and I dabbled in World of Warcraft for awhile. Rest assured that I'll be buying Diablo III first day.

Laptops aren't the best for new games but there are plenty of old ones out there which will run fine and are still fun.
FPS and to some extent RTS are difficult if you use the touchpad, with a mouse not so bad. I would recommend things like point and click adventure games or turn based strategy like Civilisation 4 or Galactic Civilisations 2 for laptops.
You don't need to spend an overly large amount on a PC. You can put together a pretty decent one from scratch for about £800 ($1500-$1600?)
I've spent a bit more than that on mine. Currently looking at a new keyboard and mouse and then some more RAM.

You can actually build a very good one for about 800-1000$ it just takes some looking around and knowing that you don't need the latest graphics card to run certain games. I'm currently looking for upgrade my RAM also, but its just like 40-50$ per gig I think (need to check newegg).

It depends on where you get the parts from and what parts you want.
PC gamer does a rig which costs about £800 but thats for everything and pretty top quality.
Quite often you can save by using the same keyboard, mouse, harddrives, monitor, case and even motherboard if its up to scratch to handle quad core and the new graphics cards.

Your right, I forgot about monitor prices -_- I got mine for free but I forgot how expensive those monitors are nowadays.

i play nothing but MMOs usually on the computer
i play maplestory (LOL) some WoW and combat arms (Another LOL)

But now i use it for PS, Sega, and ps2 emulators (FFVII on pc is WIN)

I think they released FFVII on pc anyway do you wouldn't need an emulator to play it.
I'm trying to get back in to Dawn of War 2 now there is this new patch out and with the Last Stand game mode coming soon.

Theres a new game mode coming out for DoW2? Hmm...might need to start getting better at the game again then.

Yes but is it free? i think not im cheap what can i say (also i cant find it in bit torrent)

Good point. Also it is a bastard to get working on XP and up. It was built for 95 or 98 and really doesn't like to work on better things even with compatability mode. Best stick to the emulator.

Yeah DoW2 is getting a hero defense last stand game mode. Pick any of the 3 heroes from the orks, eldar or space marines and hold out as long as you can agains't hordes of tyranids controlled by the AI. Think GoW2 horde mode or L4D survival only with wargear and levelling up.
Of course if you can't wait there is always a mod or 2 which has done this already

I'm using unusualfashions one at the mo but currently slugging through the campaign with a campaign and wargear mod.

I'll play anything, from Oblivion to World of Warcraft.
